Intel and VW show off Infotainment System

Volkswagen has a bit of a reputation for playing with new and strange  dashboard technology, and while it’s latest initiative isn’t totally far-fetched, it’s still worth a peek.

In a interesting move, VW has partnered up with the computer chip processor giant Intel in order to develop a prototype interface unit that’s completely self-enclosed, this would mean that all the fuctions for the dashboard interface would be done using tiny microchip technology instead of having a computer hidden somewhere in the boot of your car.

This particular dashboard has an intuitive touchscreen interface  using a typical operating system that seemed to be able to handle lots of input from the user. For example, it  can display the weather in various places, you can toggle music tracks and playlists, you can check stocks, and even interactive maps, which will be very useful if utalized by van hire agencies.

However, it seems this technology is quite a way away from becoming a standard in cars can vans for sale.
