Big changes are happening down in at Porsche, but thats not unexpected, with Volkswagen buying up a 49 percent share in the company, their influence will begin to be seen, across all new and existing cars and vans, and policies toward upkeep and redistribution of used cars and used vans.
In a report issued by UK’s CAR Magazine, Volkswagen are taking steps to force Porsche to trim down on its production line, the two already set to be axed are the Cayenne SUV and the more recently developed Panamera four-door sedan. The two will be discontinued after their product cycle is complete seven years from now.
“The Volkswagen Group are famous for its vans and already has plenty of SUVs and saloons [sedans] — it doesn’t need Porsche to build them,” says the report.
Porsche fanatics who dislike the idea of Porsche making SUVs and vans for sale might take this as a wonderful peice of good news, now Porsche can concentrate on creating the cars they are famous for while sharing at least one platform with a future Volkswagen.
