A Stolen VW Truck Recovered 35 Years Later

Almost thirty five years ago, someone stole one of Volkswagens used vans in Spokane, Wash. In a strange turn of events, last month it was found in perfect condition located inside a shipping container bound for Germany.

The owner, Michele Squires hadn’t seen her old Volkswagen van for more than three decades, and as it turns out it was her van.

The van had likely changed owners several times over the years. Most recently, it had been in the hands of a custom repair shop in Arizona, which refurbishes VWs vans and sells them overseas. Authorities say the owners of the shop aren’t considered suspects.
