January 31, 2022 by Penny Leave a Comment

It’s not too early to start thinking about winter home renovations! Even if the weather outside is still warm, there are a few things you can do to your home to make it more comfortable and inviting when the cold weather sets in. This blog post will discuss some of the best home renovation tips for winter. We’ll cover everything from insulation to decorating so that you can get your home ready for the colder months ahead!

Insulating

Insulation is one of the essential home renovation tips for winter. Insulation keeps you warm by blocking airflow between the inside and outside your house. It also stops moisture from getting in or out, which means your insulation will prevent condensation during cold weather. To get ready for winter, you should have insulation installed in your attic to reduce drafts on your home, especially around windows and doors. We recommend adding insulation to attics at least R-30. If you don’t have this yet, you should consider it! Also, don’t forget about other parts of your home prone to drafts during wintertime!

Windows and Doors

It is essential to ensure that your windows and doors are correctly sealed with door and window sealant during winter. If you find any cracks where air can enter- such as around window panes, frames, or open vents- then you should seal them up ASAP! There are many ways to insulate windows and doors, including weatherstripping and foam insulation strips. However, the cold air will not only cause drafts in these areas if they aren’t insulated, but it can also lead to condensation forming inside of your home. As we mentioned before, condensation is terrible for your insulation and even worse for the structure of your house. In addition, condensation will cost much more than a few hours worth of work on insulating!

Heating Systems

Another home renovation tip for winter that is extremely important is ensuring that your heating system works correctly in the cold months ahead. If you don’t have a central heat and air conditioning unit in your house, you should look into getting one installed before being stuck in a freezing place! You can also buy space heaters to put in rooms throughout your home to keep it warm when the rest of the house isn’t heated. Finally, don’t forget about ceiling fans! Many people neglect their ceiling fan (especially if they don’t use it during summer), but many fail their ceiling fan even if they use it year-round.

Interior Decorating

Finally, the last home renovation tip for winter is interior decorating. This might not be an extremely important issue for many people, but it can add a nice touch to your home in colder months! In particular, you can use tartan plaids or tapestry throws as blankets on couches and chairs. Also, putting candles in all of your windows against curtains from Christmas time (or even fall) will create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in any room- especially if you light them at night when it gets dark earlier!

These home renovation tips for winter are not only easy to put in place, but they can also save you a lot of money when it comes to heating your home in the cold months ahead. We hope our article has inspired you, and we wish you happy renovations!
