We get it, we’ve been told to save the planet so many times now that we are recycling without thinking about it. But if you are trying to save the planet by taking a few steps forward, eco-friendly living is one of the best ways to help everybody. It’s about living a sustainable life while making some specific choices in life. Let’s show you exactly what you need to do to make the most of your daily lives.

Finding the Right Vehicle

Many people talk about driving as being a big no-no when it comes to saving the planet, but the fact is that general cars are not particularly eco-friendly. However, an electric vehicle is the best way for you to make the most of helping the planet. Cars such as the Jaguar Swansea i-Pace requires minimal charging. An electric vehicle is expensive for many people, but the great thing is that now, they are becoming more popular and more affordable. Of course, whenever in doubt you can make your journey by public transport. However, an electric vehicle is one of the best ways to truly minimise your carbon footprint.

Turning Your Energy Points Off

If you want to save your carbon footprint, make sure that you turn your electrics off at the wall, instead of putting them on standby. You’ll see a big difference in your energy bills!

Stop Wasting Food

7.3 million tons of food is wasted in the UK which is adding to the amount of CO2 being created in landfills. If you are trying to save money and not wasting food, you need to get into the habit of reusing or repurposing certain ingredients. If you can take the challenge of trying to make it to the end of the week without refilling your fridge with new items, you can make sure that your food will go as far as it takes you.

Composting

If you have let food go past its best by date, you can compost it. There are always local compost services, but if you want to make the most of your garden, you can purchase a compost bin, and add it to your grass to give it a bit more growth.

Getting Your Food Shop Delivered

These days most people are getting their food delivered, but after lockdown has finished, consider having food delivered every week. The great thing about food deliveries is that you are less likely to purchase items on impulse, reducing your waste, while also making sure that you reduce your carbon footprint by not driving to the shops as much.

Use Your Microwave

You might be surprised at how more energy-efficient microwaves are compared to ovens. There are many things that you can do with your microwave, and here is a list of foods that you might be surprised you could have made in the microwave.

Insulating Your Property

If you want to save money, while also saving energy, you need to insulate your home. Homes that are not insulated are much more difficult to keep warm when the weather is cold. But while you might think that is not worth insulating a property during the summer, it will keep the property cool! Insulation is one of the best things that anybody can do to save money while also helping the planet.

As you can see, it’s not just about recycling. There are many things you can do.
